Over the years, the group has launched many innovative products and value additions for the tea industry, as well as Customized Drying Solutions for the food and other value addition industries. Today its reputation and goodwill has taken the company to all Tea producing countries around the world.
GEM with its full fledged manufacturing facilities in India – at Kolkata the capital city of West Bengal, sales and service are facilitated through overseas offices in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Kericho – Kenya. A technical team of experienced engineers is deployed through these offices to ensure prompt deliveries and commissioning. In addition to these facilities, the company’s R & D unit and Pilot Laboratory along with the manufacturing facilities are consistently involved in product development and innovation.

Gem company was set up by the present Chairman, Mr Ajay Kumar Garg.
Gem is the first organization in Eastern India to have manufacture the Vibro Screen Sorter for the tea industry.
The company mainly dealt in production of machinery, such as Rotorvane, Crush Tear Curl (CTC), Continuous Fermenting Machine (CFM), etc.
After Kilburn, we were the second company in India to manufacture the Vibratory Fluid Bed Dryer. We have our Driers today in more than 40+ countries globally and this is a flagship product of the organisation. Total number of Dryers installed so far exceed 600.
The first Indian made Vibratory Fluid Bed Drier was set up in South Africa, at Magwa Tea Factory.

Gem set up the first 4 line CTC tea production unit in Malawi at Conforzi Plantations Limited.
We set up the first turnkey CTC project in Rwanda, at Karongi Tea Factory Ltd.

Kenya Tea Development Agency Ltd installs and commissions the first ever Continuous Withering Machinery at Kapsara Tea Factory by Gem. This is a game-changer in the tea industry of Kenya.
