GEM Group, the company established more than 30 years ago in a humble factory in Calcutta is a leading manufacturer and exporter of Tea Processing Machinery with the expertise to supply Customised processing equipment for all types of Tea production like CTC, Orthodox & Green Tea. Over the years, the group has launched many innovative products and value additions for the tea industry, as well as Customized Drying Solutions for the food and other value addition industries. Today its reputation and goodwill has taken the company to all Tea producing countries around the world.
GEM with its full fledged manufacturing facilities in India – at Kolkata the capital city of West Bengal, sales and service are facilitated through overseas offices in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Kericho – Kenya. A technical team of experienced engineers is deployed through these offices to ensure prompt deliveries and commissioning. In addition to these facilities, the company’s R & D unit and Pilot Laboratory along with the manufacturing facilities are consistently involved in product development and innovation.

Brief History of Our Company
1984
Gem company was set up by the present Chairman, Mr Ajay Kumar Garg.
1991
Gem is the first organization in Eastern India to have manufacture the Vibro Screen Sorter for the tea industry.
1995
The company mainly dealt in production of machinery, such as Rotorvane, Crush Tear Curl (CTC), Continuous Fermenting Machine (CFM), etc.
1996
After Kilburn, we were the second company in India to manufacture the Vibratory Fluid Bed Dryer. We have our Driers today in more than 40+ countries globally and this is a flagship product of the organisation. Total number of Dryers installed so far exceed 600.
1999
The first Indian made Vibratory Fluid Bed Drier was set up in South Africa, at Magwa Tea Factory.

We established the first CTC tea production unit in Russia.
2003
Gem set up the first 4 line CTC tea production unit in Malawi at Conforzi Plantations Limited.
2010
We set up the first turnkey CTC project in Rwanda, at Karongi Tea Factory Ltd.
2014
Gem was invited as a keynote speaker at the International Tea convention in Kigali in 2014.

Gem designs the first ever Apron Plate Band Dryer, supplied to a coconut processing plant in Indonesia.
2015
After collaborative work and research with Tea Research Institutes in Assam, Sri Lanka, Kenya, and Japan, we introduced the iconic Latitude Continuous Withering Machinery – Continuous Chemical Withering and Continuous Physical Withering machinery in the industry.
2015
We design the largest Apron Plate Stainless Steel Band Dryer 2500 kgs/hr finished product, for Franklin Baker Company in the Philippines.
2016
Kenya Tea Development Agency Ltd installs and commissions the first ever Continuous Withering Machinery at Kapsara Tea Factory by Gem. This is a game-changer in the tea industry of Kenya.
2016
Gem was called upon as a keynote speaker at the International Scientific Tea Symposium in Naivasha, Kenya.
2018
Gem was once again invited as a keynote speaker at the International Tea conference in Nyeri, Kenya.
2018
The single largest Continuous Chemical Withering CCW machine holding 35000 kgs of leaf is installed and commissioned at Elgon Tea Factory.
2019
Gem was once again invited as a keynote speaker at the International Tea conference In Kampala, Uganda.
2019
Gem commissions the iconic Stainless Steel Apron Plate type Continuous Chemical Withering CCW machine at Chepkumia Tea Factory, Kenya. This is yet another game-changer in the tea industry globally. Three CCWs here at this factory hold in excess of 80,000 kgs of green leaf / day.
2019
Gem has invested in a new production plant in India spanning 5000 mtr. square of built-up area.
2020
Gem commissions a 100,000 kgs production line and CCW and CPW at Itona Tea Factory, Mufindi Tea Company, Tanzania.
